Renewal of Permanent Residence Card

Expert Assistance for Renewing Permanent Residence Card

The duration for which a Permanent card remains valid is five years. You can apply for a new PR card in the last nine months of expiration. Even after the expiry of the PR Card, you remain a permanent resident. Usually, the whole process takes a minimum of 49 days, and at the time of urgency, it can be obtained quickly.

The charges can only be paid through online mode, and it is also mandatory to attach the receipt of payment to your application. Additional requirements such as photos are compulsory as per the guidelines otherwise your application can be rejected.

Program

To renew your PR card, you must fill out a form IMM 5444e along with the required documents. Initially, you need your expired or soon-to-be expired PR Card while applying for the new card. If the card is lost or stolen, the proof of lost and stolen card is valid.

A clear photocopy of a travel document like a passport and other identity documents is also needed. Moreover, you also need criminal records that prove you are not involved in any offense or conviction. Additional documents such as a valid ID, birth certificate, and recent tax document are also needed.

To renew your PR card, some documents are required by the authority. These documents include a copy of your current PR card, government-authorized identity documents such as a driving license, and travel documents like a passport.

A photograph of a specific size (50mm x 70mm) is mandatory for the application. Moreover, a document proving the residency requirement of 2 years in the last five years is needed as well.

The whole process may take up to 90 days. However, new cards may be issued within 45 days. Moreover, it is easy to keep track of the application, as the IRCC website provides accurate processing time. According to the complexity of the case, the processing time may go up to 6 months or a year.

There is a specified fee application that can only be paid through online mode and is non-refundable. So make sure you are eligible for PR renewal and meet the whole criteria.
