Post Graduation Work Permit

Study and Acquire Work Permit in Canada

Expert Guidance for Post Graduation Work Permit in Canada

Post-graduation work permits (PGWPs) are open work permits issued to overseas students who have completed a program of study in Canada. PGWP allows the bearer to work for any company, for as many hours as they like, and from any location in Canada. PGWPs are valid for eight months to three years and are an excellent method to gain significant job experience in Canada.

When an applicant has job experience in Canada, they have many more options for obtaining Canadian permanent residency. WestWide Immigration Services offer assistance throughout the application process for Post Graduation Work Permit, from planning, and applying to acquiring the permit.

Working before and after application Letter of Completion Application for PGWP after 90 days Application for PGWP after 180 days

Before applying, if you are eligible to work in your last term, you may work up to 20 hours per week off campus or full-time on campus until your Letter of Completion is ready. If you submit your PGWP application online, you may immediately begin working full-time while your application is being reviewed if you are eligible at the moment you apply.

You are not required to apply for a post-graduate work visa until you earn your diploma or attend your graduation ceremony (PGWP).

To apply for a PGWP, all you need is an official letter from your school confirming completion of your study program, as well as an official transcript or a copy of your transcript from your school's website. After your institution provides your final grades, you have 180 days to apply for a post-graduation work visa.

Even if the expiry date on your study permit is many months later, your study permit becomes invalid 90 days after your Letter of Completion becomes available. If you do not apply for the PGWP within 90 days of receiving your Letter of Completion, you must change your status to a visitor and apply for the PGWP from within Canada.

You must apply for the PGWP within 180 days of receiving your Letter of Completion, whether you're inside or outside of Canada. Your study permit must have been valid during the 180 days before applying for the work permit, which means you may be able to apply for the PGWP sooner than the 180-day term following receipt of your Letter of Completion.
